ADAVIC - BERNIE'S BIKE RIDE NO. 7

Sunday 25 th November 2007
Capital City Trail
Start time: 10.00 am
This is a popular ride that circumnavigates the City providing views of the city not available to the motorist. Distance: 32km - Difficulty level: Easy – Duration: Approx. 2.5 – 3 hours. A good way to sweep away the post election blues.
The trail is either concrete or bitumen and suitable for all types of bikes. There are a couple of locations where there are steps on the trail so you will need to be able to lift and carry your bike.
The trail takes in:
- Docklands
- Telstra Dome
- Moonee Ponds Creek
- Zoo and Royal Park
- Yarra Bend Park
- Merri Creek
- Yarra River
- Melbourne Park and MCG
- Alexandra Gardens
- Southbank.
There are plenty of places to pause for a drink and snack including Collingwood Children’s Farm.
Meeting arrangements: We meet at the strange, white sculptures at New Quay, Docklands which is very handy to Southern Cross station.
Tips before starting ride:
Try to eat breakfast about 2 hours before ride. A low GI, low fat breakfast is best (toast, cereal, etc. is good). Hydration is essential. Its best to drink enough water before and during the ride to stay hydrated.
Things to bring with you:
- Bike (you won’t get far without this essential piece of equipment)
- Water
- Sun block
- Food to eat along the way. Eating at regular intervals reduces fatigue
- Windcheater or rain jacket in case weather changes
- Correct size inner tube or repair kit in case of punctures
Please call ADAVIC to confirm your attendance on 9853-8089.
