Healthy Eating

by Cathleen

Christmas is a busy time for everyone and what a time to enjoy so many different foods! I was busy searching on the web for recipe ideas and came across a great website for tips on healthy eating. www.dietclub.com.au. They have a very comprehensive library full of articles on staying healthy and some delicious recipes that are healthy too!

One of the articles listed drinking water as one of the most important tips to staying healthy. Water is said to form an essential role in almost all body activities including digestion, absorption, weight loss, joint lubrication, temperature regulation etc. Water provides an extremely cheap, safe and effective way to promote a better state of health and well being.

Beware of the link "portion sense photos" as it contains all of the nutritional facts on all of our favourite chocolates and other foods! I was given a nasty shock to see how much fat my favourite chocolate snack, Freddo frogs contained!!! Only enter if you can handle what you read!

For those of you who are struggling to think of new and tasty meals during the hot summer months, I have listed one of my favourite pasta recipes. This is delicious and easy for you to prepare and while I haven't done any thorough nutritional testing on it, I like to think it's very healthy too!

Cath's summer pasta snack: Instructions: Cook the pasta, and simply stir in the sundried tomatoes, basil and tuna. It should take about 15 minutes all up, and tastes delicious reheated for lunch! For extra flavour squeeze lemon juice on top.

Good luck staying healthy over the summer, it is my advice to just enjoy the good food during the festive season, and perhaps visit the above website when it's over to help get you back on track!!!

Don't forget to drink heaps of water!
