Vibrational Breath Therapy
Spirituality in Practice
The main practice in Vibrational Breath Therapy is breathing, chanting and meditating on AUM.
Now what is AUM?
"AUM is the Sanskrit root-word or seed-sound symbolising that aspect of Godhead, which creates and sustains all things - Cosmic Vibration. AUM of the Vedas became the sacred word HUM of the Tibetans, AMIN of the Moslems, and AMEN of the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Jews, and Christians. The world's great religions state that all created things originate in the cosmic vibratory energy of AUM, or Amen or the Word or the Holy Ghost" - a quotation from Paramahansa Yogananada.
Now you may understand better the Biblical saying (John 1:1,3):
· "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. All things were made by Him (the Word or AUM) and without Him was not anything made that was made."
It is this same Truth which was the essence of the Upanishads - the ancient wisdom of Hinduism. For example in the first verse of the 5000 year old Mandukya Upanishad, it is said:
· "AUM the Word is all this. All that is past, present and future is verily AUM. That which is before the 3 periods of time is also indeed AUM".
What does this mean?
The sum total of experience of all those who had lived in the past, who are living today, and all those who are yet to be born in this manifested vibrational world of duality is characterised by the symbol AUM. It further extends to the experience of the un-manifested vibrationless world of non-duality before causation and creation. In short AUM symbolises the totality of experience of all our individual selves - the "I"s in us.
Our experience in this mundane world of objects is through three states of consciousness - wakeful, dream and deep sleep. In the wakeful state of consciousness the "I" in us acts more like an extrovert, interacting with the world of names, forms and substance - our physical plane of existence. In the dream state of consciousness the "I" in us acts like an introvert experiencing the internal projections of the mind and intellect in our dream world - our astral plane of existence. In the deep sleep state of consciousness the "I" in us is neither here, nor there, but experiences all the same a contented blissful state, literally dead to the world - our causal plane of existence.
But if the "I" in us wishes to develop physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, renew, repair and self-heal, break the cycle of births and deaths and merge with its source, then it has to transcend the above three states of consciousness and move into the fourth state of consciousness called Turiya - the state of causal silence within us. This is a non-dual vibrationless state of consciousness, where the "I" in us- the Atman, realises its true Identity, Reality and Truth with Brahman, our Higher Self. Thus we realise that AUM symbolises the various states of consciousness in Atman & also that Atman is in truth Brahman.
And this truth can be experienced through breathing and the chanting of AUM and moving into the ensuing state of causal silence within us and meditating on AUM.
The breathing and chanting of AUM is done at the electro-magnetic-field, also known as Pranamaya Kosha or auric body or meridian body, which is the vital body. This envelops the physical body. The breathing is done in a sequence at the frontal, side and back lobes of the electro-magnetic field at each section of the lungs. They are like airbags.
To do it well you do special exercises to open the rib cage and stretch the lungs, sit in a specific posture and hold your hands in specific mudras/gestures. These help us to breathe in over 60% of the lung capacity, when we start absorbing energy directly over and above the oxygen needed by the body. It then energises every single cell. Further the breathing is done in different ratios to generate healthy blood, glandular and bodily fluid cells.
The chanting of AUM gives each cell the necessary resonant vibrant frequency of the physical, astral and causal planes of our existence. The cell needs it to become holistic - to experience a state of natural health and wellbeing.
There are other benefits from this practice. The chakras or cerebro-spinal subtle-energy centres are associated with psychic qualities. During the chanting these are activated, enhancing their values and contributing to a transformation in the personality and character of the student, assisting him/her to face life with equanimity and fortitude.
Further meditating at the Heart Centre on AUM neutralises past emotional traumas and tensions in this and previous births, preventing relapse.
Doing this main practice in Vibrational Breath Therapy for 3 months you will regenerate, rejuvenate and self-heal. This process can be ongoing till you've completely rehabilitated yourself or learnt to manage the condition.
What it really does is develop the person physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, enabling him/her to experience perfect health of body and mind. The actual healing is only a by-product.
